The Ride of Silence 22nd Anniversary Ride

Join cyclists from all over the Greater Omaha Region in a silent slow-paced ride (max. 12 mph) in honor of those who have been injured or killed while cycling on public roadways. This ride is police escorted. Our proposed 13 mile route is here (https://ridewithgps.com/routes/45543907).
On Wed. May 15th, 2024 at 7:00 PM, the Ride of Silence will traverse and unite the globe as nothing before it. Cyclists will take to the roads in a silent procession to honor cyclists who have been killed or injured while cycling on public roadways. We had six cyclists killed in Nebraska in 2023. More than the past five years combined. Although cyclists have a legal right to share the road with motorists, the motoring public often isn't aware of these rights, and sometimes not aware of the cyclists themselves.
The Ride of Silence is a free ride that asks its cyclists to ride no faster than 12 mph, wear helmets, follow the rules of the road and remain silent during the ride. There are no registration fees but organizers ask that you register and acknowledge a brief release. The ride, which is held during National Bike Month, aims to raise the awareness of motorists, police and city officials that cyclists have a legal right to the public roadways. The ride is also a chance to show respect for and honor the lives of those who have been killed or injured.
All riders are welcome on this ride, helmets are required, lights and visible clothing is expected. Bellevue Bicycle Club will organize this event and will be led by supportive club volunteers.
