The Bellevue Bicycle Club, also known as the BBC, is all about having fun, developing friendships and achieving fitness on one of mankind's most unique creations, the bicycle. BBC membership encompasses the Bellevue and Omaha/Council Bluffs metro together with many out-of-town cycling enthusiasts. Our focus is primarily recreational cycling but includes, touring, off-road, bicycle commuting. The club even has a few racers and triathletes. We host local social rides each week and participate in many multiday rides including RAGBRAI (Register's Annual Great Bicycle Ride Across Iowa), TDN (Tour de Nebraska) and BRAN (Bicycle Ride Across Nebraska). Meetings are monthly and beginners are welcomed.
Meetings usually are the first Monday of the month @7:00PM.
The location of the next BBC meeting will be at:
Richmont Village
702 Fort Crook Road South

Non-members are welcome! Come check us out.
One important benefit of club membership is access to our Yahoo Group. This group has access to our Club Calendar where ride information is posted and an email option for communicating other club related announcements.
It is located at: http://sports.groups.yahoo.com/group/bbc_nebraska_omaha/
We encourage our members to log their cycling miles using bikejournal.com

_Support Bicycle Lane Development In Your Community
You may be aware that the cities of Omaha and Bellevue, as well as MAPA and The Nebraska Department of Transportation, are teaming up with private bike clubs and donors to create a bicycle lane connecting Bellevue/Offutt Air Force Base with Omaha and Omaha's bike lane system. The new bike lane will run from Offutt Air Force Base north along Fort Crook Road to 24th Street to Midtown and Downtown areas and other destinations.
In support of this project and in cooperation with the Omaha Pedalers Bicycle Club, the BBC is cosponsoring the showing of the award winning documentary Bicycle Dreams - The Race Across America Movie. Proceeds earned by the two cycling clubs will be donated to a new bicycle lane project._
The Race Across America is an epic, 3000-mile bicycle race from the Pacific to the Atlantic. First held in 1982, RAAM is considered the most challenging sporting event in the world. Top riders finish in under 10 days, riding over 300 miles per day and sleeping only a few hours per night. Amid the sleepless grind, riders must endure the searing heat of the Mojave Desert, the agonizing climbs and descents of the Rockies, the driving winds of the Great Plains, and the twisting switchbacks of the Appalachians before the final sprint to the finish line in Atlantic City. With little prize money at stake, the fundamental goal of the race is simply to finish, a challenge half of all riders fail to meet.
